Privacy Policy

Oryendata ("we," "us," or "our") operates oryendata.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding it.

1. Who We Are

Oryendata is an AI-powered media analysis platform, built in Christchurch, New Zealand. We are currently in a testing period prior to formal incorporation.

2. Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and Google profile information.

Search data

We collect the keywords, date ranges, source preferences, and language settings you enter when running a search. We store the articles collected and the analysis results generated for those searches.

Usage data

We collect standard technical information including your browser type, device type, IP address, and pages visited. This helps us understand how the platform is used and diagnose technical issues.

Payment information

We do not store payment card details. Payments are processed by Stripe, which has its own privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and improve the Oryendata platform
  • Send account-related emails (confirmation, password reset, security alerts) via Resend
  • Respond to your support requests
  • Understand how researchers use the platform to guide our development roadmap
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

4. Data Sources and Third-Party Content

News articles displayed in Oryendata are sourced through NewsAPI.ai (Event Registry), operated by DataScouting d.o.o. NewsAPI.ai retains ownership of its API infrastructure, source ranking systems, metadata structures, and proprietary data organisation. Original article content remains the property of the respective publishers.

Analysis outputs — including sentiment classifications, emotion scores, framing analysis, theme extraction, and generated summaries — are produced by Oryendata's AI pipeline and constitute Oryendata's intellectual property.

AI analysis is performed using the Anthropic Claude API. Article content is transmitted to Anthropic's API for processing and is subject to Anthropic's usage policies at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL database) hosted on secure cloud infrastructure. We use row-level security policies to ensure users can only access their own data.

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, and access controls.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but we take data protection seriously and will notify affected users promptly in the event of a breach.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Search data and analysis results are retained for the duration of your subscription and for 30 days after account deletion, after which they are permanently deleted.

You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing support@oryendata.com.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent for processing where consent is the legal basis

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@oryendata.com. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies to maintain your login session. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this will prevent you from staying logged in.

9. Children's Privacy

Oryendata is not intended for users under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as our platform develops. We will notify registered users by email of any material changes at least 14 days before they take effect.
